Clay Workshop

Our Senior Room children were delighted to take part in a fantastic workshop with ceramic artist Bernadette Tuite as part of the Teacher Artist Partnership.

Drawing on her experience and inspiration from the Irish coastline, Bernadette guided the students through the process of sculpting detailed sea creatures and sea monsters in clay. The workshop encouraged creativity, focus, and great enthusiasm from all involved.

It was wonderful to see the imagination and skill on display, with each student creating their own unique piece.

A sincere thank you to Bernadette for providing such an engaging experience for our Senior Room children.

Clay Workshop

We were delighted to welcome ceramic artist Bernadette Tuite to Togher N.S. as part of the Teacher Artist Partnership.

Based in Cork, Bernadette draws inspiration from the Irish coastline and her fascinating background as a former boat captain. Her passion for the sea truly came to life during her visit, as our students explored their creativity through clay.

The children in the Junior Room had a fantastic time sculpting their own sea creatures and sea monsters.

, learning new skills, and expressing their imaginations in such a hands-on and engaging way.

A big thank you to Bernadette for such an inspiring and memorable workshop.

Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

We had a fantastic day at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dunmanway. Despite a little drizzle, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of our wonderful children – it was smiles all the way.
This year, we were proud to showcase our brand new papier mâché snake, alongside some of our much-loved favourites from previous years.
A huge thank you to all the parents fo your help and support. We’d also like to thank everyone who came out to watch and cheer on the parade. Finally, a big thank you to the parade organisers for putting together such a wonderful event for everyone to enjoy.
Well done to all involved—we are already looking forward to next year.

Snake’s Head

Over the past few weeks, our classrooms were busy with newspaper, glue, and plenty of creativity as we continued our long-standing tradition of crafting papier mâché figures. This year’s star creation? Our fantastic snake’s head. From building the shape to painting on all the colourful details, everyone played their part.

FAI 5 a side

Recently, the wonderful all-weather pitch at Drinagh Rangers played host to a FAI Primary Schools 5-a-Side Soccer Competition. 16 schools from across West Cork came together for what proved to be a fantastic day of football, fun and great sportsmanship.

Togher N.S. were magnificent throughout the competition and produced some excellent performances to reach the final. After progressing through the rounds, they faced The Model School, Dunmanway in what turned out to be a very exciting and closely contested final.

At the end of normal time the teams were level at 1–1 and the match went to extra time. Both sides battled bravely and gave it their all, but it was The Model School, Dunmanway who managed to score a late goal to secure the victory.

While the result was disappointing for Togher N.S., the children can be extremely proud of their fantastic performances throughout the tournament. Both teams displayed great skill and sportsmanship and represented their schools superbly.

Most importantly, the children had a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone involved in organising the tournament.

Well done to all the schools who participated and congratulations to The Model School on their victory.

Snowmen

Our Junior Room had great fun getting creative with clay as they made their own snowmen. The children rolled, shaped, and decorated their snowmen with tiny noses, buttons, hats, and scarves — each one full of personality.

This activity helped develop fine motor skills, creativity, and lots of smiles along the way.  Well done to all our wonderful young artists.

Cycle Sense

The children have started the Cycle Sense cycling course.

This Cycle Skills and Safety Training programme combines both practical and theory-based learning, helping pupils understand what it takes to stay safe on the road.

Over the coming weeks, they’ll explore road safety, build their cycling knowledge, and develop essential practical skills. To bring their learning to life, the children will also be putting these skills into practice right here in the school yard.

We’re excited to watch their confidence and independence grow as they pedal their way through the programme.

Pancakes

Today, the whole school enjoyed a wonderful pancake treat! Everyone was served freshly made pancakes with a variety of tasty toppings to choose from, including sugar, lemon, blueberries, and strawberries.

A big thank you to Lisa from the S.C.P. for all her help in making this happen. The pancakes were absolutely delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Lifetime Lab

Children from 3rd to 6th class enjoyed a truly wonderful day at Lifetime Lab on Thursday at The Old Cork Waterworks. The Lifetime Lab is an ideal setting for primary school pupils to explore science and maths through STEM learning.
The primary science workshops are carefully designed to support the skills, concept development and content objectives of the SESE Science Curriculum. This year’s workshop focused on the theme of electricity, and the children wasted no time getting stuck in. They designed and drew their own electrical circuits, built battery-operated models and learned all about amps, conductors and resistors in a fun and practical way.
It was a day full of curiosity, creativity and learning. To find out more about Lifetime Lab, visit www.lifetimelab.ie
