Partnerships

Partnerships within and outside the school are an important aspect of the Active School Flag. When a school participates in the Active School Flag Programme it is vital to interact and engage with other organisations and clubs.

Within Togher N.S we established our own ASF committee at the outset of the process. The committee members keep all classes up to date on ASF news and events. The pupil members of the ASF committee were given leadership roles. For example certain children were in charge of the P.E storeroom and sport equipment, other members were in charge of communicating messages and others were instrumental when planning events.  Our school has an ASF notice board and suggestions box.

Our school also acknowledges physical activity and sporting success achieved during and outside of school hours. Our school informs pupils and parents about physical activity opportunities that are available in the local community and links for those organisations can be found below. Senior pupils from our Active Schools Committee conducted a ‘What Club Are You In?’ survey to find out about physical activity opportunities in the local community.

Our school invited different sports clubs/physical activity providers from the local community to visit our school for Active School Week in March and at other times during the year, to give taster sessions of their activity. New activities that we tried out were tug of war, tag rugby and capture the flag.
