Active School

Togher N.S. has long recognised the importance of physical activity for children. The Department of Health recommends that children engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity every day. Research now shows that increased participation in sport and other forms of physical activity can boost cognitive functioning (information processing), memory, concentration, behaviour and academic achievement for children. As an Active School our children not only engage in the full Physical Education curriculum they also enjoy many other opportunities to engage in physical activity during the school day such as Movement Breaks, Drop Everything and Run, Active Walkway and Move Well Move Often activities.
