Art and Nature with Stephanie from Heritage in Schools
Last week, we welcomed back Stephanie from Heritage in Schools for another inspiring visit, this time leading a wonderful activity that blended nature and creativity.
The children explored local green spaces and collecting native Irish wildflowers with Stephanie’s expert guidance. Along the way, they learned to identify various species and were reminded of the importance of caring for the natural world.
Back in the classroom, the children carefully arranged their flowers for pressing. Stephanie demonstrated the traditional technique of preserving blooms between sheets of paper in heavy books.
As always Stephanie’s passion for Irish heritage and biodiversity shone through, leaving the children with new knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the beauty around them.
We’re very grateful to Heritage in Schools and to Stephanie for sharing her time and enthusiasm with us once again.
Sciath na Scol
The Togher N.S. football team had a fantastic day out at the St. Colum’s GAA grounds in Kealkil, with the sun shining and plenty of enthusiastic supporters cheering them on.
The team faced tough competition in thrilling matches against Adrigole N.S., Derrycreha N.S., and Kilcrohane N.S., but their hard work and determination paid off—the team has secured a place in the Sciath na Scol finals.
If you hear some enthusiastic shouting from the pitch in the coming weeks, don’t worry—it’s just the team training hard for the big day.
Modern Dance Classes
We’re thrilled that Togher N.S. has recently introduced a series of Modern Dance Classes—and the response from the children has been nothing short of fantastic! The children are exploring rhythm, expression, and creativity through dance. From lively warm-ups to group choreography, the children are not only getting active, but also gaining confidence and having a lot of fun along the way. Modern dance encourages freedom of movement, teamwork, and self-expression, and we’re proud to offer our children this opportunity to shine in new ways. A big thank you to our talented instructor Aideen Johnson.
Baking with Karen
The children were really excited when Karen came to visit us again! Very soon, the children were busy measuring, pouring, sieving, and mixing—all with big smiles on their faces. It wasn’t long before the yummy smell of freshly baked cakes filled the school!
This week, the children made cup cakes, and they were absolutely delicious. Baking with Karen is always so much fun. The children learn new things, laugh a lot, and best of all — get to enjoy tasty treats at the end.
