Creative School Award

The Association for Creativity and Arts in Education presented the Creative School Award to Togher National School recently as the school was successful in meeting the criteria outlined by the Association.  Dáire Hayes and Michael Cronin along with Mary Keane travelled to the Ark Cultural Centre for Children in Dublin to accept the award on behalf of the school.   The author Siobhan Parkinson presented the award to Dáire and Michael.  Ms. Parkinson stated that she particularly liked our project  as it was planned in a similar way to the way she plans and writes her books.  Many of the invited guests visited Dáire and Michael’s table to discuss our project.  Both boys were very articulate and well able to answer all the questions.  They showed examples of our work on the ipad and in hard copy.  Many commented on the neat handwriting and wonderful drawing.

Dáire, Michael and Mrs Keane enjoyed a nice lunch after the event.  They visited some historical sites and monuments of interest before returning home, tired but happy.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Bhīomar ag iarraidh bheith ag caint as Gaeilge sa seomra ranga.

Bhīomar ag imirt cluichī a éilionn éisteacht agus tuiscint :

  • éisteacht agus pictiūr a tharraingt
  • éisteacht agus mīm a dhéanamh
  • deir Ó Grádaigh
  • cluiche bingo
  • tráth na gceist

Thaitin tráth na gceist go mór linn.

Bhīomar ag lēamh treoracha do chluichī boird a leanūint.  Bhī an sport againn ag imirt na cluchī seo.

Bhīomar ag imirt cluichī Gaelacha amuigh sa chlós freisin.  D’fhoglaīomar damhsaī Gaelacha.

Lēigh an miūnteoir scēal dūinn agus bhiómar ag canadh amhráin agus ag ēisteacht le ceol Gaelach.

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as seachtain na GaeilgeIrish board games.

Shadow Class

We were very fortunate to have lovely weather from the 10th to the 14th March so we took every opportunity to spend some time outside.  Second and third class had great fun writing about shadows.  Each group wrote a poem and the girls also composed a little song and dance called, “Can you do the Bunny Hop?”  The children also created some amazing shadow animals and creatures using their hands and bodies.  Everyone thought it was a great class and we really enjoyed learning outdoors on such a beautiful day.

David Walliams – Author

classThis year the senior classes have been reading books by David Walliams.  Ms O’ Connell ordered two box sets of his books.  It came with Mr. Stink, Gangsta Granny, Billionaire Boy, Ratburger and The Boy in the Dress.  We also got his latest book The Demon Dentist.

Most have agreed that David Walliams is the best author ever!
