Art Project

3rd -6th class are participating in an exciting new visual arts project as part of the 1916 Centenary Commemorations. This project aims to produce an exhibition of artwork that shows the history of Ireland and art over the past 100 years through the eyes of West Cork school children.

This is an ambitious and exciting project that fulfils a number of cross curricular objectives, including encouraging children to engage with their history, widening knowledge of art history for both teachers and children, and supporting teachers in new visual arts ideas and skills for the classroom.

The artworks produced as part of the project will feature in an exhibition at Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre in 2016, and be included in a large commemorative poster.

We were delighted to have Alison visit us on Tuesday. She showed us how to create stencils.
