Best of luck to Shannon, Rachel, Muiris and Kelly Ann who are members of our Ballad Group. They sang and played their instruments  beautifully in school during the week.

They will compete in Ballydehob this Sunday having qualified at a previous competition.  They will sing two ballads, one in Irish and one in English.

X Factor in Togher!

winners

We had our annual Togher’s Got Talent on Friday. The standard this year was amazing with pupils singing, playing the guitar, tin whistle and recorder.

Congratulations to all who participated. Mrs Keane, Ms C. Daly and Mr Swann decided after much discussion that the winner was Rachel with Shannon and Michael joint second.

Percussion Group visit Togher N.S.

music 3Alex Petcu and Clare O’Keeffe from West Cork Music visited our school today, to present Bangers and Crash Percussion.

They gave us a fun, interactive workshop.  They showed us many instruments including the marimba, ocean drums, spring drum, the whip and snare drum.  The class selected the marimba as their favourite instrument. The marimba is like a huge xylophone. They also showed us how to make music using our body by clapping, stamping, clicking  and rubbing our fingers,

We really enjoyed it and only wish they could have stayed for longer.
