Hedgehog Art

The children in the Junior Room have been exploring clay during Visual Art lessons this month. They had great fun making their own hedgehogs. The next project will be to make tealight holders which the children will design and decorate themselves.

Still Life Drawing

It was a beautiful afternoon so we decided to move outside for our art class. The children were asked to draw a still life using a pencil and concentrating on light and shade. A still life is a drawing or painting that focuses on still objects. The subject matter is inanimate and never moves, typically with a focus on household objects, flowers, or fruits. Still life drawing is a great way to practice creating shapes and building three-dimensional forms through shading techniques.

International Dot Day

Tuesday the 15th of September is International Dot Day. The inspiration behind International Dot Day is the children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds which encourages students to celebrate creativity, courage, and collaboration. In the build up to Dot Day the children in Togher N.S. engage in many artistic activities – dedicated to getting the children to fearlessly make their mark on the world!

Visual Challenge!

‘It is not a star’… so what could it be? Some of our pupils have used their wonderful imagination.

There’s space for more and you can send your beautiful creations to us through WhatsApp on 0874041181 or togherns@gmail.com

St. Valentine’s Day

We were very busy this week getting all loved up ready for St. Valentine’s Day. The children in the Senior Room made beautiful Willow Love Hearts and Valentine’s Cards for the big day. Many thanks to Katrin for all her help with this Arts and Crafts activity.

St. Bridget’s Cross

In preparation for St. Bridget’s Day we were busy making St. Bridget’s crosses at Togher N.S. It was wonderful to watch the older children helping the younger children and the teamwork involved in making these crosses. The children made an extra box of St. Bridget’s Crosses which we sent to St. James’ Church for local parishioners to take home and enjoy.
