Dunmanway Fire Brigade visited Togher N.S. to help children understand how to stay safe in a fire, with a strong focus on having a clear escape plan, getting out quickly, and staying out once they are safe.
A huge thank you to Phillip Kelleher, Station Officer, for speaking to the children about the importance of planning and practising a safe way out of their homes. He reminded them that in the event of a fire, they should stay low under smoke, never go back inside, and always know their eircode so emergency services can find them.
The children also received a very informative Fire Safety Booklet and learned practical steps to prevent fires at home, as well as exactly what to do if one occurs — from raising the alarm to escaping safely and calling for help.
