Togher N.S. enjoyed two fantastic days of G.A.A. football, beginning with the qualifying tournament in Kealkil and culminating in the Final in Clonakilty. While the final score didn’t go our way, what truly stood out was the determination, resilience, and teamwork shown by every member of the team.
Facing a well-drilled Leap N.S. side, we knew early on that this would be a tough test. From the first whistle, our team dug deep. Aoibhe and Sophie held the line in defence with great composure, while Ari pulled off several vital saves to keep us in the game. Their communication and support for one another kept the pressure from boiling over.
Midfield was a fierce contest, and Faye and Ciarán never backed down. They battled hard for every ball, linked play with calmness, and made the most of their scoring chances. Up front, Aaron and Darragh ran themselves into the ground, showing clever movement and endless effort as they searched for gaps in the Leap defence.
At halftime, the challenge ahead was clear—but so was the spirit in our team. This is a group that doesn’t give up. Eli stepped into goal and showed courage under pressure as Leap pushed forward. Our teamwork held strong, with players covering for one another and fighting for every inch of ground.
As the match wore on, our substitutes—Alicia, Orah, Ella and Clodagh—came on and made a real impact. Their energy, focus, and grit reminded everyone that this is a team full of promise and pride.
We warmly congratulate Leap N.S. on their victory and thank them for a tough but fair contest, played in the best traditions of Sciath na Scol football. Most of all, we’re proud of our players for their courage, unity, and heart.
We returned to school to celebrate reaching the final with some well-earned pizza—and plenty of pride in what we achieved together.
