Senior Room School Tour

This year’s Senior Room school tour had to stay local. Often we are so busy looking at faraway attractions we don’t realise the wonders that are on our own doorstep. The children in the Senior Room had an amazing school tour without leaving the local area. The children enjoyed The Sam Maguire Visitor Experience, The Dunmanway Heritage Centre and Dunmanway Pitch and Putt.

Rev. Cliff Jeffers gave the children a fascinating insight into the life and times of Sam Maguire and the opportunity to ring the Sam Maguire Community Bells of St. Mary’s Church. The Sam Maguire Community Bells were installed in 2017 to remember Sam Maguire, to bring people together in the community and to offer people a chance to learn a new skill. Dunmanway Heritage Centre is a hidden gem. Stimulating an interest in history in young people is high on Dunmanway Heritage Centre’s agenda, and there are plenty of fascinating artefacts and displays to capture the imagination of any visitor, young or old. The children were delighted to discover so much more about the history of Dunmanway. The Dunmanway Pitch and Putt is a beautiful 18-hole Pitch and Putt course. The children had great fun taking on this exceptionally large course with some challenging greens.
